Terms of Use
Effective September 16, 2026
1. About the service and these terms
GlucoPet is a web application and installable PWA for keeping a pet diabetes log. The service is developed and operated by Mike Dexemberg. Contact details are published on the Legal Notice page.
By using GlucoPet, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service. Any mandatory rights granted to you by applicable law remain unaffected by these terms.
2. GlucoPet features
The service lets you record glucose readings and insulin doses, keep notes, create charts, configure reminders, prepare reports, and give selected people shared access.
Guest mode works without registration and stores the log on your device. An account adds synchronization, cloud storage, and shared access. Individual features depend on your browser, device, internet connection, and the availability of third-party infrastructure.
3. Not veterinary advice
GlucoPet is a tool for recording and presenting data that you enter. It is not a veterinary clinic, medical device, diagnostic system, or emergency service. Charts, ranges, reminders, and reports do not constitute a diagnosis or a recommendation to change treatment.
Do not change an insulin dose, medication, diet, or treatment plan based solely on information in the app. Make such decisions with a qualified veterinarian. If your pet's condition deteriorates suddenly, seek urgent veterinary care rather than relying on GlucoPet.
4. Who may use the service
GlucoPet is intended for adult pet owners and people whom an owner has entrusted with a pet's care. By creating an account or accepting an invitation, you confirm that you have legal capacity to enter into this agreement under the law applicable to you.
Do not add information about a child or another person without a lawful basis. Information about an animal's health is not itself human medical data, but free-form notes and photos may contain people's personal data.
5. Account and security
You can sign in with a code sent by email or through a supported external provider. You are responsible for access to your email, device, and Google or Apple accounts. Do not share sign-in codes or invitation links with others.
Contact dexemberg@proton.me if you suspect unauthorized access. We may temporarily restrict an account where reasonably necessary to protect the service or its users.
6. Your records and backups
You retain your rights to photos, notes, and other material you add. You grant GlucoPet the limited right to store, transform, transmit, and display that material solely to operate the features you choose, including synchronization, export, and shared access.
You are responsible for the lawfulness of uploaded material and the accuracy of your entries. Do not upload another person's confidential information, unlawful material, malicious code, or content that infringes the rights of others.
In guest mode, it may be impossible to restore the log after browser data is cleared, the app is removed, or the device is lost. Regularly back up data that is important to you.
8. Acceptable use
You must not use GlucoPet to violate the law or the rights of others, circumvent access restrictions, interfere with the service, distribute malicious code, send bulk unsolicited invitations, or attempt to obtain another person's data. Automated load testing and security research require prior written permission.
9. Rights in the service
GlucoPet's interface, design, text, logo, and software components are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These terms do not transfer rights in the brand or code to you, except for a limited right to use the available version of the service for its intended purpose.
Third-party libraries and services are governed by their respective licenses and rights holders' terms.
10. Availability and changes
We aim to keep GlucoPet available and preserve data compatibility, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, browser or infrastructure provider failures, and changes to or discontinuation of individual features may occur.
We will try to give advance notice of a material change that significantly limits core account features and provide a reasonable opportunity to export data where technically and legally possible.
11. Ending use of the service
You may stop using the service at any time. You can delete your cloud account in Settings; we recommend downloading a backup first. You can delete the local copy separately through GlucoPet or your browser.
We may restrict or terminate access in the event of a material breach of these terms, a security threat, a legal obligation, or discontinuation of the service. Where circumstances permit, we will first provide notice and an opportunity to remedy the breach.
12. Liability
GlucoPet is provided as a supporting tool. To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for veterinary decisions made by users, errors in entered data, loss of local data, actions of invited users, or failures of external services beyond the operator's reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including mandatory consumer rights. You must take reasonable steps to mitigate potential loss, including keeping backups and checking important entries.
13. Personal data
The processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. It explains what data is processed, who receives it, how long it is retained, and how to exercise your rights.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law determined under mandatory conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, these terms do not deprive you of the mandatory protections of the country in which you habitually reside.
Before taking a matter to court, please offer to resolve it by contacting dexemberg@proton.me. This does not limit your right to apply to a court of competent jurisdiction or a consumer protection authority.
15. Changes and contact
When these terms change, we will update the date and version of the page. Where appropriate, we will notify you of material changes in the app or by email. The new version applies from the stated date; a dispute is governed by the version in effect when the relevant events occurred.
Send questions about these terms to Mike Dexemberg at dexemberg@proton.me.
